16 Stunning MTV VMA Performances

Tonight is the night! The MTV Video Music Awards will air tonight at 9/8 central. This year, the ceremony will take place in the city that never sleeps, New York City, at Madison Square Garden. Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, and Future will be performing, Rihanna will not only open the awards show, but she will be receiving the Video Vanguard Award.

With so much anticipation for one of the biggest nights in music, you know everyone’s going to be talking about their favorite performances from previous years. In honor of the 2016 VMA Awards, let's take a look back at 16 performances that shook us the VMA viewers.
